We almost didn't go to the potluck last night. Mari and Bri were helping Ben catch fish for a delivery, Kirby was in town helping Gramma Betty with a computer problem, Myra, Kendric and Logan were playing in the garden / sandbox... It was Mari who remembered the potluck. She used Ben's cell phone to call from the pond, "Should we come home pretty soon to get cleaned up? How long 'til we need to leave?" Kirby got home, we hurriedly made sure every child was dressed with socks and shoes, ate on the way, and made it to the church building just as everyone else was clearing their plates.
The parents were having their regularly scheduled conversations (re: home / time organization and Grown Children). I had stepped out of the room (again!) to deal with Wilson (who was tired and just wanted to be in his own bed), so I'm not exactly clear on the details. I heard a child crying. "Hmm," thought I, "That sounds like Kendric." Sure enough, Faith walked into the nursery to tell me that Kendric was hurt. I put Wilson in the crib (he was almost asleep!) and found Kendric lying on his daddy's lap. Apparently there had been a kafuffle among some boys about who sits where, and Kendric's head was whacked against the corner of a pew. ... Lots of people helping to get cloths, ice, bandages, offering assistance, etc. ... Held it together with a Band-Aid (and some extra tape 'cause Kendric thought it would help), and fixed it up for real when we got home:
Kendric had fallen asleep in the car; we were hoping he'd stay asleep, since he wouldn't be numb anymore. I held Kendric in my lap while Kirby cut the hair to get the Band-Aid off, then shaved the area to make a place for the butterfly bandage:
He did wake up, and got a bit ... nervous / fussy when Kirby got the razor... I let him sleep on the couch so I could check on him in the night... As of this morning, he says it doesn't hurt anymore.(Not pictured: the actual wound. It's not a pleasant sight. Approx 1. inch wide, rather deep.)

Poor baby. I think he needs a Gramma Kiss.
Ouch...I hate it when that happens, fun turned to not fun...how did the shaving part go, did it hurt? I cannot even imagine..:(
Looks like a WHOOPER of an injury!
I bumped my forearm pretty hard on a car mirror this week. You should see the bruise!
Oh, buddy! That's a super big ouchie! He looks like such a trooper in the pictures, poor guy!
Thanks for the compliments on the pictures...they were sooo fun! I'm just finishing up everything tonight and they'll see it all tomorrow, I can't wait! I told them that we were going to have to go do it all over again, since I'm getting a new camera
Ha!
Poor little guy! Man, I hope the boys involved in the seating dispute were sorry and learned something from it! That's some pretty violent jostling for position!
Like I said... checkerboard. By the way, who ever decided it was the ADULTS who were supposed to sit around the tables and talk???? I am now viewed as the lowest for of life for not helping with the dishes and actually following the program... Is there a law somewhere that says teenagers must/may not be interesten in adult conversations/ ideas... and if so why did nobody tell me???
awwww how sad. i'm praying for him.
Poor guy and poor mama.
You both look a bit traumatized.
It'll be a cool story when he's older though.
awww... poor Kendric.
Here was your chance for pictures of your hair currently, I try to see it, but noooo. You could always shave a big patch out of your head to match Kendric, no wait, you have already had that... Good job bandaging it up!
did you change your hair between the first and second pictures of you? it seems like the part is on different sides. so confused.
oh i scrolled over the picture to see the caption and it's in the mirror. duh.
I think that you are beautiful just the way you are! And yes I am still in Oregon. I love it here. It is so beautiful and oh my goodness i love the beach so that is a plus! I hope Kendric is doing better! Well I will talk to you later! Steph
